The start of the boys race at the 2026 IHSA Class 2A Woodstock Sectional at Emricson Park
Tyler Johnson is going to State! Tyler placed 20th overall at the IHSA Class 2A Woodstock Sectional at Emricson Park in 16:15.8, earning one of the 10 individual qualifying spots for runners not on an advancing team. He will run at the IHSA State Final at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
Tyler is Rochelle's first individual state qualifier in cross country since Bobby Widick in 2008. Before that, Matt Jacobson qualified in 2002.
Emricson is a tough, hilly course. Tyler ran a smart race and stayed in position the whole way. We are very proud of him.
As a team, Rochelle placed 16th of 18 teams with 416 points. Making it to Sectionals was a big step for this group. We advanced from Regionals by one point, and the boys got valuable experience running against the best teams in our area.
